gecyndelîce on mannum and on nŷtenum.
II. Nû ys gecweden æfter cræfte gemǣne cyn, þæt is, ǣgðer gê
werlîc gê wîflîc: hic et haec diues ðes and þêos welega:
ǣgðer byð welig gê wer gê wîf; hic et haec heres þes and
þêos yrfenuma; et cetera.
III. Neutrum is nâðor cynn, nê werlîces nê wîflîces, on
cræftsprǣce, ac hit byð swâ ðêah oft on andgyte, swâswâ ys
hoc mancipium ðes weal, hoc animal þis nŷten: ǣlc nŷten byð
oððe hê oððe hêo. ac swâ ðêah ðis cyn gebyrað oftost tô
nâðrum cynne, swâswâ ys hoc uerbum þis word, hoc lumen þis
lêoht. ys êac tô witenne, þæt hî bêoð oft ôðres cynnes on
lêden and ôðres cynnes on englisc. wê cweðað on lêdyn hic
liber and on englisc þêos bôc; eft on lêden haec mulier and
on englisc ðis wîf, nâ ðêos; eft on lêden hoc iudicium and
on englisc ðes dôm, nâ ðis.
IIII. Ys gyt ân cynn commune trium generum, þæt is,
gemǣnelîce þrêora cynna: hic et haec et hoc sapiens þes and
ðêos and ðis wîse, hic sapiens rex þes wîsa cyning, haec
sapiens regina þêos wîse cwên, hoc sapiens mancipium þes
wîsa weal. ealswâ hic et haec et hoc felix þes and ðêos and
þis gesǣlige et cetera.
V. Sum cyn is gecweden epicena, þæt is on lêden promiscua
and on englisc gemenged: hic coruus ðes hremn, swâ hwæðer
swâ hit byð, swâ hê, swâ hêo; hic miluus ðes glida, ǣgðer gê
hê gê hêo; haec aquila ðes earn, ǣgðer gê hê gê hêo. ealswâ
mustela wesle et cetera.
VI. Sume synd gecwedene dubii generis, þæt is, twŷlîces
cynnes. hî bêoð gemêtte on bôcum hwîlon æfter werlîcum
cynne, hwîlon æfter wîflîcum: hic finis þes ende and eft
haec finis; hic silex þes flint and eft haec silex; hic
margo ðes ôfer and eft haec margo; et cetera.
VII. Sume synd mobilia, þæt synd âwendendlîce, forðan ðe hî
bêoð âwende fram cynne tô cynne: hic sanctus ðes hâlga, haec
sancta þêos hâlige, hoc sanctum ðis hâlige; ealswâ iustus
rihtwîs, iusta, iustum; bonus gôd, bona, bonum; et cetera.
