Tḗ de|ṓs ō|rṓ ‖ Syba|rín # cū́r prope|rḗs a|mán|dṓ (H. 1, 8, 2).
2672. (1.) The second series has the same form as the Aristophanic, if
the latter be written as a tetrapody (see 2658 _ad fin._).
2673. (2.) Horace (1, 8) is the only Latin poet who makes use of the
Greater Sapphic. It seems to be an imitation of the Greek Sapphic:--
-́ ⏖ | ⏗́ | -́ ⏖ | ⏗́ | -́ ⏖ | -́ ⏑ | ⏗́ | -́ ⌃, e.g.
δεῦτέ νιν ἅβραι Χάριτες καλλίκομοί τε Μοῖσαι
but if so, the imitation is not exact.
