The table of contents has been moved to the beginning. The spelling
of names has been regularised and missing punctuation added. Obvious
misspellings have been corrected. A few words appear in two different
spellings; these have been retained. Some words now used with the
accusative case were combined with the dative case in Gerstäcker's time;
period usage has been retained where contemporary reference books show
this to have been the case.
The following additional changes were made; the original appears in the
first line, the altered version in the second.
