255 – It is to be noted that Eusebius, who died in A.D. 371, was
not the last Bishop of Vercellæ, but Limenius, whose name
occurs among the Bishops who took part in the Council of
Aquileia. This has also been made an argument against S.
Ambrose’s authorship, but there does not seem much weight
in it. Eusebius was much the more famous man of the two,
and his teaching and example and the memory of his labours
and martyrdom are naturally appealed to by S. Ambrose.
256 – These were, it appears, followers of Jovinian. See above,
Introd. to Letter of Siricius, p. 280.
