Transcriber’s Notes

Punctuation, hyphenation, and spelling were made consistent when a

predominant preference was found in the original book; otherwise they

were not changed.

Simple typographical errors were corrected; unbalanced quotation

marks were remedied when the change was obvious, and otherwise left

unbalanced.

Contractions using ’t, such as “’t is” were printed with a space

separating the “’t” from the preceding or following word. Today, we

omit the space (“’tis”), but since all of them were printed with the

space in the original book, the space has been retained here.
