HARRODS LTD. LONDON]

By the scientific construction of the “Harrod” Cabinet

Refrigerators, the consumption of ice is reduced to a minimum.

These Cabinets are unique in many ways, one distinct advantage

being the completely separate chamber for the ice, which is not

exposed to the outside or warm air when putting in or taking out

edibles; this obviates unnecessary waste, and renders these cabinets

both economical and efficient. They further commend themselves to

intending purchasers by their convincingly moderate price.

FIRE AND FALL RESISTING.

These Safes are far superior to the ordinary Four-Corner-Bent Safes.

The body is bent out of one solid steel plate ¼ in. thick; Door ½

in. solid steel plate, strengthened to 1 in., drill-proof over Lock,

and secured by a Seven-Lever, Unpickable, Gunpowder and Drill-proof

Lock. The bodies are formed of one plate of steel bent at the twelve

corners, thus introducing the important feature of a body which in

no way depends upon screws or rivets. This improved construction

enables a Safe to withstand a much greater fall than a Safe made

in the usual way. The Fire-Resisting Chambers are 3½ inches thick

TOOL CABINET.

THE “COMPACTUM” TOOL CABINET.

This Cabinet is framed in dark American Walnut Wood, with Ash

Panels, and has a work bench made of very strong well-seasoned hard

wood, which is fitted with a patent Bench-stop, and also with an

improved iron Instantaneous Quick Grip Bench Vice. The fittings are

made of polished brass, and the Cabinet throughout is of superior

strength and workmanship. When closed it makes a handsome and

well-finished piece of furniture.

It is 3 ft. 6 ins. long × 2 ft. 6 ins. high; the top forms the

Carpenter’s Bench, which is 3 ft. 6 ins. long x 1 ft. 6 ins. wide.

An extension piece is sent out with each Cabinet; this can easily

be attached and firmly fixed to one end, thus making the Bench 5 ft.

long. In this respect it is a great improvement on any combined

Cabinet and Work Bench yet placed on the market. It can also be

fixed in front of the Bench for Wood Carving or for any other work

that requires a strong table.

[Illustration: THE “COMPACTUM” TOOL CABINET.]

An improved Combination Tool Cabinet. Joiner’s Bench and

Wood-Carver’s Table.

The above engraving shows the Cabinet with the extension attached to

it forming a full-size bench 5 ft. long. This engraving also shows

the Cabinet open, and it will be seen that the lower part is fitted

with racks or clips, in which to place the tools, and that the same

use is made of the inside of the two doors. There is also a back

to the Cabinet, which can be raised by an ingenious contrivance

with the greatest ease, and this is also used as a rack for tools,

so that “_each tool has its special position_.” The value of this

arrangement will be at once recognised by all methodical workmen.

Every tool will be in its proper place, and can be found when

required. On the right side of the Cabinet there is a cupboard to

hold the extension piece, and which can also be used to stow away

large planes or any other large tools that may be acquired. On the

left side are three drawers, as shown in the following engraving,

which will be found very useful for any additional tools, or for

small work of any description, and in front, under the bench, there

is a long shallow drawer, with partitions for nails, screws, brass

fittings, etc.

[Illustration: W M & S]

This engraving shows the Cabinet with the back lowered into position,

and the doors closed ready for use as a Joiner’s Bench, and fitted

with 2 in. Quick Grip Vice.
