1. The Participle Past used without auxiliary partakes of the nature of
an adjective.
une lettre lue, _a letter read_.
des hommes persécutés, _persecuted men_.
des femmes admirées, _admired women_.
les parents chéris, _the beloved parents_.
N. B.--The participles _excepté_, _supposé_, _passé_, _vu_, assuming a
prepositional relation, when placed before nouns they modify, are
invariable.
excepté mes amis, _my friends excepted_.
supposé ces faits, _these facts supposed_.
passé cette heure, _that hour passed_.
vu ces choses, these _things examined_.
