THE PLAGUE OF DOTS.

There are decimal dots which we can't do without

In spite of Lord RANDOLPH'S historical flout;

There are dots too, with dashes combined, in the mode

Familiar in Morse's beneficent code;

While some British parents good reasons advance

In favour of "_dots_" as they're managed in France.

But as for the writers disdainful of plots

Who pepper their pages with plentiful dots,

They must not complain if the critics of prose

Disapprove of a practice which savours of pose,

And, searching around for an adequate [Greek: hoti],

Proclaim it a sign of a brain that is dotty.
