vernam, schreef de president, lord Northbrook--oud-onderkoning van
Britsch-Indië en thans minister van marine--het volgende aan den
president van het IJszeevaart-comité:

In my own name, and on the part of the council of the Royal
Geographical Society, I hasten to convey to you, and to the
Dutch Arctic Committee, our feelings of regret at the sad
news which has just reached us, of the untimely death of
Lieutenant Koolemans Beynen.
In conveying to the Committee our expressions of sympathy,
we desire at the same time to record our sense of the great
loss which geographical science and research have sustained,
and to assure you that the distinguished services of Lieut.
Beynen were highly appreciated in England.
