It is believed, that the disease called STAGGERS, is generally
occasioned by a diseased state of the stomach. Copious and timely
bleeding is the sheet-anchor on which we must depend. I shall, however,
give the following recipe, which has often proved serviceable: Take of
oil of peppermint, one scruple; tincture of valerian, one ounce;
assafœtida, five drachms: mix for a dose.
