Simple typographical errors were corrected; unbalanced quotation
marks were remedied when the change was obvious, and otherwise left
unbalanced.

The original book used leaf-like symbols as separators or decorations.
This eBook uses ❦ for all of them, and Transcriber added a few more at
the bottoms of what were pages in the original book.
