["Colonel NORTH bases his appeal for support on the plea that
he will see to it that West Leeds gets its full share of whatever work
may be going."--_Leeds Mercury._]
O "dark and true and tender is the NORTH!"
And wondrous service to West Leeds he'll render;
_He_'ll see, when Government work is going forth,
West Leeds shall have its chance--at least to tender.
"Orders are heaven's first law." That is the kernel
Of the "dear Colonel's" creed; and it contents
Those who to Governments raise the cry eternal
Of "Give your orders, Gents!"
