II. 2.

Thee, O Minerva, we adore,

Thy altar ever streams with gore:

We on each moon’s concluding day

To thee our public homage pay;

Through every fane harmonious numbers sound,

Sweet minstrelsy then breathes around,

And th’ echoing hills their nightly dance repeat

As the nymphs move with agile feet.
