In this fine romance of love and war Miss Ray has a wider field than she
has compassed before and strikes a deeper note of feeling. The events
take place in South Africa during the Boer War, and in local details Mr.
Fuller has given valuable aid. As in the author's other books, the
characters awaken interest because they are so human.
