Softly sigh the winds of evening,

Through the lone sequester’d dell,

Where in calm and dreamless slumber,

Lies our darling Rosabel.

Like a flower she bloom’d in beauty,

Shedding sweetness all around;

Like a flower she droop’d and faded,

When we laid her in the ground.
