[Transcriber's note:
This text marks a few vowels as long which are considered short by
the Oxford Latin Dictionary/OLD (or vice versa).
This affects the following words:
(i) 'mīsceō' (long i); OLD considers 'misceō' (short i) correct.
(ii) 'affīrmō' (long i); OLD considers 'affirmō' (short i) correct.
(iii) 'mīttō' (long i); OLD considers 'mittō' correct.
This affects also the corresponding composites.
(iv) 'īmmō' (long i), whereas OLD considers 'immō' (short i) correct
(v) 'līttera' (long i, 2 't'); OLD considers 'littera' or 'lītera' correct
(vi) īgnis (long first i); OLD considers 'ignis' (short first i) correct
(vii) Some prefixes "in-" (like īnsalūbris) have 'long i' in the text,
but are considered short in the OLD.
In the "Poēta" chapter, one misprint has been corrected: "dormio" -> "dormiō".
In the appendix, which lists the vocabulary ("index verbōrum"),
a few words are explained by pictures. To avoid these pictures
in the interest of readers who cannot display pictures on their devices,
they have been replaced by their definitions in English,
using the label 'Image.']
