FAB. CCCLXXXVIII.

_Jupiter_’s Two _Wallets_.

When _Jupiter_ made Man, he gave him _Two Satchels_; one for his

_Neighbours Faults_, t’other for his _Own_. These Bags he threw over

his Shoulders, and the Former he carried Before him, the Other Behind.

So that this Fashion came up a great while ago it seems, and it has

continu’d in the World ever since.

The MORAL.

_Every Man living is partial in his own Case; but it is the Humour of

Mankind to have our Neighbours Faults always in our Eye, and to cast our

own over our Shoulders, out of sight._
