FAB. CCCLXXXI.

A _Raven_ and _Wolves_.

A _Raven_ that had waited upon a Herd of _Wolves_ a whole Days Ramble,

came to ’em at Night for a share of the Prey they had got. The _Wolves_

answer’d him, that if he had gone along with ’em for Pure Love, and not

for his Gut, he should have had his Part: But (said they) a _Dead Wolf_

if it had so fall’n out, would have serv’d a _Raven_’s turn as well as a

_Dead Sheep_.

The MORAL.

_Most People Worship for the Loaves, from the very Plough-Tail to the

Crosier and Scepter; and the World bows to that that’s uppermost._
