REFLEXION.

There are no Visits so officious, and Importune, as those that People

think to get by; Especially when our Thoughts are taken up with Matters

of Greater Moment. Besides, that there’s a Design upon us in the very

Complement. These Fables may serve to Point out to us, that there are

_Men_, as well as _Wolves_ and _Foxes_, that wait for the _Carcass_:

That is to say, for an Office, an Estate, a Commission, Lands, Moneys,

Jewels, or whatever else People lie Gaping for in Reversion, according

to the Practice of the World: So that there’s Little Trust to These

_Death Bed Ceremonies_; which, for the Greater Part, have more in them of

Avarice, and Interest, then of Piety and Good Will: So that Effectually,

a _Wolfe_’s Visiting a _Sick Ass_, is but _Saying Grace_ to a _Dead One_.
