REFLEXION.

The _Fat Capons_ in This Fable, are the Rich, the Great, and the

(Externally) Happy Men in the World. People Weigh Vertue, in Common

Reputation, as they do Flesh in the Market, at so much a Pound. They

Agree too in the Contempt of Men of a Less Size and Quality, and they

Meet with the same Fate in the End too, by a Just Judgment upon them

for their Insulting Vanity. They are made the very Mark for Envy, and

Avarice to shoot at: and Equally in danger of being Sacrific’d, either to

Tyranny, or to Faction. The Poor, in fine, have This Consolation, that

their Condition is safer, and easier, then That of the Rich: And All

People in the World will agree with Those _Capons_ in the Fable, that it

is better to _Live Lean_ then to _Dye Fat_.
