FAB. CLXXIV.

A _Wolfe_ and a _Kid_.

A _Wolfe_ spy’d out a Straggling _Kid_, and pursu’d him. The _Kid_ found

that the _Wolfe_ was too Nimble for him, and so turn’d and told him: I

perceive I am to be Eaten, and I would gladly Die as Pleasantly as I

could: Wherefore, Pray give me but One Touch of your Pipe before I go to

Pot. The _Wolfe_ Play’d and the _Kid_ Danc’d, and the Noise of the _Pipe_

brought the _Dogs_ in upon him. Well (says the _Wolfe_) This ’tis when

People will be Meddling out of their Profession. My Bus’ness was the Play

the _Butcher_, not the _Piper_.

The MORAL.

him._
