FAB. CXXXI.

A _Boy_ and a _Snake_.

A _Boy_ was Groping for Eeles, and laid his hand upon a _Snake_, but the

_Snake_, finding it was Pure Simplicity, and not Malice, Admonish’d him

of his Mistake; Keep yourself Well while you are Well, says the _Snake_;

for if you Meddle with Me, You’ll Repent your Bargain.

The MORAL.

_’Tis the Intention, Morally Speaking, that makes the Action Good or Bad;

and even Brutes themselves will put a Difference betwixt Harms of Ill

Will and Mischance._
