By Helen Leah Reed. Illustrated by Jessie Willcox Smith. 12mo. Decorated
cloth. $1.50
This book, the first volume of a very popular and successful series of
books for girls, has received high praise. The _New York Tribune_ says
it “has a tone of healthy common sense which is not always found in
girls’ story books.”
The _Boston Herald_ says: “Miss Reed’s girls have all the impulses and
likes of real girls as their characters are developing, and her record
of their thoughts and actions reads like a chapter snatched from the
page of life. It is bright, genial, merry, wholesome, and full of good
characterizations.”
