DIOCLEA.

Upon my bridal morn my father’s house

Was full of song; my heart was full of sun;

Yea, and of earnest love and brave intent:

Less snowy was the linen I had woven

With my own hands for thee; less fresh the wreaths

The bridesmaids still were twining; and less pure

The gold of bridal gifts which guest-friends brought,

Than was the heart that waited to be thine.
