Brick grinned weakly and looked up at Silent—

“You go to Marlin City and take care of the jail, Silent.”

“My ——!” grunted Silent. “I’ll be a hermit yet.”

“Take Harp along for company and Buzzard and Romeo for the good of

society.”

“Change hermit to lunatic,” grunted Silent. “C’mon, orkestry.”

Brick slumped in his chair and grinned as he fumbled for the makings of

a cigaret. The tangled trails had been straightened out.
