The Departments devoted to Fashion have a particular fascination,
the name Harrods being a _cachet_ with well-dressed people for
correct and distinctive attire.
Their fashion experts regularly visit the Continental markets. They
have established agencies in the leading centres which keep them
informed of the trend of fashion, and constantly feed them with
novelties.
Harrods have developed the manufacturing side of their fashion
business to such an extent that they now produce in their own
workrooms a great number of fashionable garments, including gowns,
coats, blouses, millinery, and underwear, many of original design as
well as replicas of selected Paris models.
This development of manufacture not only tends to improve quality
by giving Harrods the entire supervision of the materials and
workmanship, but also lessens the cost to customers, all middle
profit being obviated by this method of supplying direct.
