Removal from 2 Cumberland Place, Regents Park, to 88 Lansdowne Road,

W.

October 9th, 1911.

Mrs. HERTZ wishes to express her satisfaction with the foreman and

staff of men sent, their behaviour was very quiet, and they did

their best to make the removal as little disagreeable as possible.

Removal from St. Albans to Santa Rosa, Hampstead Green.

October 9th, 1911.

I wish to express my great satisfaction with the manner in which

your foreman and his assistants performed their work.

Yours faithfully, E. H. COLE.

Removal from E. Grinstead to Kensington.

October 9th, 1911.

Miss COBB wishes to say she is very pleased with the way the

moving has been done, and the extreme civility, obligingness

and consideration of the foreman, also the quiet behaviour and

willingness of the men.

Removal from Kensington to Brookfield, Arundel.

October 11th, 1911.

I am glad to avail myself of the opportunity of expressing my

satisfaction with the way in which the removal of my furniture was

carried out.

Yours truly, ARTHUR W. PRITT.

Removal from 87 Maida Vale to Store, thence to 20 York Avenue, Hove,

I think the goods came out very well indeed after being stored for

three years, and please accept my thanks for your attention.

Removal from Fernielaw, Colinton, N.B., to our Depository, thence

back to the above address.

December 1st, 1911.

We are very pleased indeed with the way you removed the furniture

from here to London, and from London back here, and we give all

praise for doing it so nicely.

Removal from 12 Roland Gardens, to 8 Kensington Court Gardens, W.

October 14th, 1911.

In justice to the men employed by you for our removal to this

address, I wish to say that they did their work admirably. They

not only did all that was necessary with care and skill, but were

most helpful to Mrs. Turner and my servants, and their conduct was

all that could have been desired in every way. In the foreman you

possess an invaluable servant and no praise would be too great for

him.

Yours faithfully, E. F. TURNER.

Removal from Summers Place, Billingshurst, to 193 Queen’s Gate, S.W.

December 1st, 1911.

I write a few lines to say how thoroughly pleased I am at the way

in which all our furniture, pictures, china, plate, etc., have been

moved here from Sussex, and how admirably the work has been done by

your foreman and his men at the Sussex end, and by your foreman and

his men at this end; nothing could have been better managed and I am

glad to be able to write you how well all has been managed.

Yours truly, (Mrs.) S. LEYLAND.

Wedding Presents packed and dispatched to Bassein, Burma.

December 16th, 1911.

I am writing to say that we are extremely satisfied with the way

Removal from Surbiton to Store, thence to Epsom.

December 20th, 1911.

I enclose cheque for removing furniture; everything was nicely done

and our furniture none the worse for being stored. I can speak very

highly of the men whose business it was to unpack and place the

furniture; all were most obliging.

(Mrs.) L. BOTTENHAM.

Removal from Upper Chine House, Shanklin, to Montreux, Switzerland.

January 5th, 1912.

This is to certify that I am quite satisfied with the men sent by

Harrods; everything has arrived in good order and they have been

most civil and obliging, and given great satisfaction.

(Mrs.) J. COSTER.

Removal from Kensington to Store.

January 8th, 1912.

I wish to inform you that your men removed the furniture from my

flat in a most workmanlike fashion. The tenants above and below me

said they would not have known that moving was being done, had they

not seen the cases. The Head Porter told me it was the tidiest and

best managed move he had ever seen. A tenant of another flat told

me she had been much struck with the excellent neatness re packing

cases and general work she saw done from her windows (Flat 2.) I

think you may hear from her later on. For myself, I cannot speak too

highly of your excellent methods. You moved for us and stored our

goods for one year some years ago, and when our furniture came back

to us there was absolutely no fault to find, nothing but praise for

excellent care shown. The thing that gave us most pleasure was the

total absence of damp in every instance.

Yours very truly, (Mrs.) M. BREMNER.

Displaying Wedding Presents at the Hans Crescent Hotel.

January 9th, 1912.

I am writing just to express our satisfaction at the way your

packers have done their work in removing and displaying the wedding

presents.

Yours truly, (Mrs.) K. MANWARING.

Removal from Broadstairs, to Upper Norwood, S.E.

January 15th, 1912.

May I take this opportunity of saying how exceedingly well

and carefully the whole move was carried out. Our thanks are

particularly due to your foreman, who was civil and attentive

throughout.

Yours faithfully, CHARLES GARTH.

Removal from Copenhagen to The Hermitage, Ascot.

November 1st, 1911.

I wish to say that I am most satisfied at the way in which the work

has been carried out, and at the condition in which everything has

arrived. I would particularly commend the foreman, who has shown

himself to be a first-rate packer, and I cannot speak too highly of

his civility and diligence.

Yours faithfully, LIONEL C. LIDDELL.

A PUBLIC TELEPHONE IS PROVIDED IN THIS DEPARTMENT FOR CUSTOMERS’ USE.

The prospective purchaser will find this list a reliable guide of

the best English and Continental Pianos. It contains only a small

representation of Harrods’ enormous stocks, but every care has been

taken to make it as representative as possible within the space

limit. The majority of the instruments illustrated are always in

stock at Harrods’, where purchasers have the advantage of testing

the touch and tone of various makes side by side in the most

spacious and elegant showrooms in the Kingdom.

Should it be desired, however, to purchase a Piano direct from

the manufacturers, Harrods will be pleased to send an expert by

appointment to accompany clients and offer advice in the selection

of the instrument.

Any Piano selected from Harrods’ stock which is not approved may be

exchanged free of charge within three months of the date of purchase

for any other make of equal value, provided, of course, it has not

been damaged in any way.

Harrods’ Equitable System of Deferred Payments

(With Surrender Value)

OFFERS SPECIAL FACILITIES FOR ACQUIRING PIANOS BY QUARTERLY

INSTALMENTS, EXTENDING OVER A PERIOD OF ONE, TWO, OR THREE YEARS.

All Pianos in stock are marked at nett cash prices, and when

purchased on above system, in most cases only 10 per cent. is added

to the prices for the full three years.

(There are exceptions and variations in the case of certain makers,

but generally speaking the above rule holds.)

The same terms apply where Harrods allow special discounts off

Manufacturers’ List Prices, the full discounts, ranging from 20

per cent. upwards, are given and only 10 per cent. added for three

years’ purchase.

In addition, should any purchaser of a Piano desire through

unforeseen circumstances to discontinue payments, Harrods are quite

willing to take the instrument back and treat the matter on the

Monthly Hire Scale, and return any balance, provided of course that

the instrument has been properly taken care of, kept in a dry, even

temperature, and been regularly tuned by Harrods.

In the event of any purchase being completed in a shorter period

than that originally arranged a special allowance is made from the

full price.

RETURNED HIRE PIANOS AT REDUCED PRICES.

In consequence of the extensive hiring business done by Harrods, it

is possible to offer at most times a wonderful range of instruments

which have had, as a rule, only slight use.

These comprise models by the most famous makers, and having been

on hire only to the best houses are for all practical purposes as

useful as new instruments.

Harrods cordially invite correspondence from clients unable to visit

the stores, and if customers will kindly indicate their wishes

regarding style and price, suggestions and advice will be gladly

submitted.

Hints on the Proper Care of a Piano.

In order to assist those who are anxious to preserve the quality,

tone, touch, and appearance of their Pianofortes, and obtain the

utmost pleasure from them, HARRODS respectfully submit the following

suggestions:--

Damp is the greatest enemy of a Piano. The instrument should

never be kept in a lower temperature than 60 degrees Fahr.

Extreme heat is also injurious. Pianos should not be placed in a

direct draught--against the outside wall--adjacent to a window or

conservatory, or very near a fire, unless well protected. Should

any noise or jarring sound be heard when a Piano is played, it is

advisable to ascertain the cause before condemning the instrument.

Often it is found to arise from a loose key or candle bracket, or

possibly some hard substance dropped inside, or by some adjacent

ornaments which sound in sympathy with certain chords and notes.

Pianos should be dusted with a soft cloth, and finished with a dry

chamois leather to keep the polish bright. Any dulness of polish due

to natural oils working through the wood can easily be removed, if

attended to at once.

It is important that all Pianos should be regularly tuned and

attended to, whether in constant use or not, by competent tuners.

that Harrods offer the best possible value for all standard makes.

PIPE ORGANS: Estimates and Specifications submitted for Pipe Organs

for all purposes, Expert advice given.

“ST. CECILIA” PIPE ORGANS.

The Tone is produced, exclusively, from full-scale ORGAN PIPES of

the finest quality which are the same as used in the largest Two

and Three-Manual Church Organs. The ST. CECILIA ORGAN is built in

several models, but the smallest pattern is far superior to the

largest and most costly “American” Reed Organ or Harmonium. It

possesses much more variety of tone and also greater carrying power;

for blending with and supporting the voice it is unequalled.

The ingenious Pneumatic Action introduced enables the “double bass”

stop to give a Pedal Organ effect, actuating from the Manual. On

this stop only the lowest note held in a Bass chord is sounded,

thus it removes the difficulty of using the Pedals, while preserving

the effect, and a perfect 16-feet Pedal Bass is obtained. For those

that prefer a Pedal Board, special Models are manufactured.

Cash Prices, from £50.

Specifications furnished on application.

THE “POSITIVE” PIPE ORGAN.

FOR CHURCH, HOME AND SCHOOL.

THE “POSITIVE” ORGAN--an entirely British invention and

production--was originally designed as a real Organ to replace the

Reed Instruments hitherto commonly in use in Village Churches,

Mission Rooms, etc. Real Organ Pipes alone are used to produce the

tone. A skilled organist is not required, since, from its single

keyboard, anyone who can play a Harmonium correctly can obtain

perfectly the absolute effect of a Two-Manual and Pedal Organ, and

can also transpose.

The precise effect of skilful pedalling is obtained by A PATENT

PEDAL-BASS STOP, which plays in the 16 ft. tone the LOWEST NOTE ONLY

of any chord or succession of chords. The effect of a second manual

is obtained by PATENT MELODIC SOLO STOPS, whereby the melody of a

hymn or voluntary is made to stand out above the accompaniment. To

obtain these effects NO SPECIAL SKILL IS NECESSARY. The TRANSPOSER

enables the pitch of a tune to be changed to bring the music within

the reach of the singer or congregation. The “Positive” Organ can

easily be blown by the feet or by a hand-blower. The “Positive”

Organ occupies no more floor-space than a Harmonium.
