The tales in this book have been gathered together from various Jewish
writings. The translation is not literal in any sense of the word. In
fact, each story has been recast and presented in a modern setting.
Some of the stories are fairy tales. Jewish fairy tales reveal an
aspect of the Jewish soul in much the same way as the various national
fairy tales embody something of the spirit of the different peoples and
nations.
