CHAPTER 52. _Thallus contracts his hands_, &c. 'Thallus manus

contrahit, tu patronos.' The pun is (_a_) bad and (_b_) untranslatable

into reasonably good English. The literal meaning is 'Thallus

contracts his hands, you collect advocates'.
