共 32 题- BIDDY AND THE SILVER MAN
- By E. K. JARVIS
- Dan called, "Hi Art."
- Biddy sighed. "All right Pop...."
- Biddy raised one leg and the man said, "Need any help?"
- Biddy laughed. "Buck's not a horse."
- This man was so funny. "Buck's a boy."
- The smile left Joe's face. "You were inside the cave?"
- Biddy laughed. "You're just joking with me."
- Pop laid his fork down and said, "Get up, Biddy."
- Mom said, "Dan--have you lost your mind?"
- Mom said, "Dan! For heaven's sake."
- Pop bellowed, "Can't you see? _Her leg's healed._"
- Jane was puzzled. "I suppose that's true."
- Biddy looked at the tray and said, "That's awfully funny food."
- The other one yawned. "This stinking town could certainly use some."
- Bates said, "Now look here, Dan, I'm duly constituted law around here!"
- After a full minute of silence, he asked coldly, "What is this?"
- Bates said, "I'm arresting this man."
- Taber cut in. "Come on back to your place, Dan. I want to talk to you."
- Dan flared in surprise. "Well of all the--"
- He looked up at her dully. "No?"
- Cecil pushed the bottle into his hand. "Try another belt of this."
- Davey's eyes asked the question. "What--?"
- The gratitude in Davey's face was eloquent. "He did?"
- Davey glanced at the sun. "Uh-huh. Sun'll be down in fifteen minutes."
- Davey's hands trembled. "But what about your folks?"
- Dan Parker frowned. "But it's not my job. Cecil Bates is the sheriff--"
- A different voice: "There, boss. Look. See the glow?"
- Dan said, "But--"
- Biddy smiled back. "About Joe."
