Little Polly,
Had a dolly,
With a curly wig;
And Miss Polly
And her dolly,
Often danced a jig.
Also Polly
had a collie,
A fine dog was he;
Blithe and jolly,
Jumped round Polly,
Barking loud with glee.
One day Polly
Knocked her dolly,
Broke its pretty head.
"Oh, fie, Polly!
Don't hurt dolly,"
Said her brother Ned.
Then did Polly
Take up Dolly,
Throw it on the floor.
Said Miss Polly,
In her folly
"I will play no more."
Up ran collie,
Seized poor dolly,
Ran off to a friend.
Friend helped collie
To tear up dolly--
That was poor dolly's end.
