find,

In Chaucer’s _Romaunt of the Rose_ is the following description;
“Another thing was doen their [there] write,
That seemed like an ipocrite,
And it was cleped _pope holy_,
That ilke is she that priuily

And maketh her outward precious,
With pale visage and piteous,
And seemeth a simple creature,” &c.
