2508. VIRGIN AND CHILD WITH ANGELS.

_Unknown_ (Florentine School: 15th century).

Two charming angels, of whom one is garlanded with roses, hold the

child before the Virgin. The scene is laid within the walls of the

mystical garden ("a garden inclosed is my sister, my spouse"), behind

which rise "Noah's ark" trees.
