S. MURAN, AB.

(7TH CENT.)

[Irish Martyrologies. Authority:--Colgan.]

S. Muran was the son of Feradach, of the noble race of the O'Neills,

and was abbot of Fathinis, in the peninsula of Inis-coguin, five miles

from Derry, in the north of Ulster. He was famous for his sanctity; and

was greatly honoured of old in that part of Ireland, where the church

of Fathinis was dedicated in his name; but the particulars of his life

have not been handed down.
